Dicky Dodd home page
Hiya it's Dicky Dodd! Thanks for checking out my page here on the WCR FM website.
So a little bit about me, in case you've never come across me before!
I've worked in radio here in the West Midlands for the past 27 years, after starting at Beacon Radio back in 1994. I love radio because it's such a personal medium, much more personal than TV. I always get asked if I've met many famous people and yes over the years, I've met and interviewed loads including Lionel Richie, Anastacia, Gabrielle, Tony Hadley, to Ken Dodd, Cannon & Ball, Keith & Orville, The Chuckle Brothers and plenty more. I'm also friends with local celebs Beverley Knight, Suzi Perry and Steve Bull. Oh and my second cousin is Jimmy Lee from Wolverhampton's very own Slade.
Being born and bred from Wednesfield, working at Juicy Fruits in the High Street as a teenager and going to Wednesfield High School, it makes it really special for me that I get to wake up the City of Wolverhampton each weekday morning. Also being able to host events like Enjoy Wolverhampton Live, the Christmas Lights Switch-ons and even Armed Forces Day in West Park, I feel privileged to be able to have done this job for so many years.
You may also see me driving a National Express West Midlands bus around the City too because I work them on a part-time basis too. I love driving, and I have a very strange passion for buses, which started when I was a very little boy, riding on the 559 to town with my Mom,
When it comes to music, I always get asked "what's your favourite song?". That's so hard for me to answer because I love so many songs that I play on the radio or even genres of music I don't play on WCR FM. I love everything from Country Music to pop, rock, RnB to Dance and even Classical music. BUT if I was to single out one song then that would be Queens' "These are the days of our lives". I just love that song.
I'm just a normal guy working on the radio, who loves to connect with people.
I hope you listen to me on the WCR FM Saturday breakfast show, from 8am until 10am. Thanks for taking the time to read this and if you ever want a mention on the show for a Birthday, Wedding Anniversary or just a cheeky mention for yourself, always get in touch and I will do the honours for you.
