It is well known that Stephen Jenyns was born in Wolverhampton, prospered as a Merchant Taylor in London and founded the Grammar School in his home town.
The talk will include:
- his family connections
- his trading activities (based on the London Customs Accounts)
- places in London to which he can be linked
- gifts made for other charitable purposes, including the paving of Wolverhampton's Market Square - at the cost of one penny the square yard!
- an attempt by his daughter Elizabeth to challenge his will which reached the court of Star Chamber.
